Custom vs. Premade Blog Templates

Deciding on which type of blog theme or template to use for your blog can be a very difficult choice to make. You can either invest in a custom template or theme or you can use a free or premade template for your blog. There are factors you should consider when deciding whether to use a custom or premade blog template.

Here are some factors to consider:

Premade Blog Templates

Pros
They are free!! Everyone doesn’t mind getting something for free.

There is a wide selection to choose from. If you have a popular blogging platform like Blogger or Wordpress, you will be able to find a suitable template without a problem.

There are always new templates out there. Web designers are always creating new templates so there are always fresh templates to choose from or to switch to.

Cons
They are not unique. Other bloggers may be using the same template that you are. Who wants to see the same template on every blog?

The best templates are used by everyone. There are only a select amount of templates out there that everyone wants. If this is the case, again, you will see so many blogs using the same template. This gets boring after awhile.

Custom Blog Templates

Pros
They are very unique. People will not have the same template as you do because you can have your template customized any way you want.

Helps you stand out from the rest. Having a customized blog template will help people remember your blog. They will keep returning to your blog which is a very good thing.

Customized templates are usually much attractive. Designers put more effort into their custom templates rather than the free ones. They make them look more appealing to bloggers.

Cons
Custom templates can be expensive. I have seen custom templates range anywhere from $200 to about $4000. I don’t know who would pay $4000 for a custom template but there are bloggers out there who would. I am sure most bloggers stick to the lower amount. This is really the only con when deciding to choose a custom template though.

How to write a blog post

Writing a blog post is not very difficult to do. Writing quality blog posts could be difficult at first but practice makes perfect. The more you write, the better writer you will become. Here is a list of things to think about when you are writing your blog posts.

Know what you want to write about
Whatever subject you are writing about, make sure you are knowledgable about that subject. The worst thing to do on your blog would be to write about something you know nothing about. This will hurt your credbility and no one will want to visit your blog!

Reel your readers in
You should try to hook you readers as soon as possible with your blog posts. If you can create quality content that readers are interested in, those same readers will visit your blog several times for new information.

Details, Details, Details
The more details you can include on a particular subject, the better. Your readers will understand the subject more and they will look to you as an authority figure on that subject. Write everything you know about the subject. Don’t leave anything out.

Finish the Post
Make sure you include an excellent conclusion. The conclusion should give the reader a very good feeling about what they just read. Make sure to keep the conclusion simple and to the point. Also, make sure you leave room for discussion from your readers. This will help them to come back to your blog and comment on the post.

Add your final thoughts
After you have finished writing your post, make sure to check for spelling and grammar errors. It would be a shame for you to pour your heart out and then to have some simple errors in your blog post like spelling and grammar errors. All of your effort wasted because of something like this. It wouldn’t make sense to put all of your time and effort into a quality blog post only to have errors like that!
