How to choose a blogging platform??

It is very difficult to decide which blogging platform is the best to use because it depends on the needs of the blogger. There are a few questions to ask yourself before you choose which blogging platform you want to use. They are as follows:

What are your goals?
What do you want to accomplish with your blog? Do you want to make money with your blog or do you want a blog where you can express your thoughts and opinions. This question is the basis for creating your blog. Once you have this, the rest is pretty simple.

What is your budget ?
How much money do you want to spend on your blog? Remember, if you choose to spend money on your blog, there are two things you will need right off the bat. You will need a domain name and web hosting. I currently use GoDaddy. Their products are very reasonably priced and their customer support is the best in my opinion. Again, you could always pick blogger.com or wordpress.com for free!!

Which blogging platform has better design options?

If you want to customize your blog just the way you like it, you should use wordpress.org because this platform has a lot of different options for you to use to design your blog. Blogger.com and wordpress.com have limited design options. Remember, wordpress.org is a paid blogging platform so you will need to spend some money if you choose this platform. Wordpress.org has so many blog tools and plugins you can use for your blog to make it look the way you want.

There are two types of blogging platforms you can choose from. There are free and paid blogging platforms. Next, you will read some pros and cons of each type of blogging platform.

Pros and cons of Free Blog Platforms:
Pros:
It is free and cheap to use.
The free platforms are easy to understand.
No need to upgrade the software.
These types of blogs will get indexed quickly by search engines.

Cons:
The money making streams for free blog are very less. Some of the sponsorships and affiliate networks don’t accept free blogs.
You don’t have full control over your blog.
You don’t have a unique url for your blog

Pros And Cons of Paid (Self-Hosted) Blog Platforms:
Pros:
The income streams for self hosted blog platforms are vast. You have plenty of ways to make money with your blog.
You have full control over the design of your blog.
Self hosted blogs have many applications like plugins so you can make your blog look just the way you want it.
You will have your own unique domain name which shows professionalism and it can be remembered easily by your visitors.
Cons:
It is complicated and not easy to understand. Some of the applications are too complicated to install yourself.
You may have to spend extra money to get help with your blog customization.

In conclusion, if you are serious about blogging and want to blog for a certain period of time then I suggest you go to with the paid or self hosted blogging platform such as wordpress.org because of the advantages it has over the free blogging platforms. This decision can be difficult but in my opinion, you will not regret it in the long run. Especially when you start making money with your blog and getting tons of traffic from people interested in the same things as you are!!

Disclosure: I am recommending Godaddy because I am affiliated with them and i do earn a commission for every person who makes a purchase from Godaddy.

Wordpress Tutorials

When people are beginning their blog, they sometimes are not sure how to do certain things. Tutorials are very helpful tools you can use to help you with your blog. I have also used some tutorials when developing this blog. Here are some of the tutorials that I have used and will continue to use in the future. They are as follows: Instant shift, ThemeTation, and Nettuts.

These are just some of the tutorials that i use but they are the best in my opinion. Of course there are a lot more tutorials out there. Again, just do a search on google or yahoo and you will find plenty of information. The above tutorials provide information about how to setup a blog template, add certain things to your template, and things like that. I constantly refer to these tutorials when i want to add something to my blog. These tutorials are awesome.
